Cute Butterfly Speakers iPod Dock with interchangeable faceplates

|

If you’re looking for an iPod dock that is a little more feminine, you’ll love these Butterfly Speakers. Although frankly, after staring at them for a few minutes I don’t see a single butterfly. I thought for a second maybe it was the overall shape, but even that is just curved nicely but not necessarily modeled after a butterfly. If anything this should be called Flower Speakers or something equally descriptive. Alright, they’re cute so I suppose I can let it slide that the product name doesn’t quite describe the product.

The cute speakers come with three interchangeable faceplates a blue, pink and green one. Which means if you aren’t quite in a pink mood you can switch to a slightly less obvious girl color. The dock comes from PBTeen, but even for those that aren’t teens I’m sure quite a few female adults would appreciate the look of these. The dock will work with either an iPod or and iPhone and of course other MP3 players can be hooked up to the speakers they just can’t sit in the dock.

Synaptics introduce ChiralRotate and Two-Finger Flick

|

Windows users would be pleased to note that ChiralRotate and Two-Finger Flick are 100% compatible with hundreds of Microsoft Windows applications. I can see that grin on your face - is your finger already itching to perform a few flicks? It would be interesting to see just how much easier life on a TouchPad is with the incorporation of both motions, as to whether both (or one) will be a novelty after a while remains to be seen. One thing that you cannot deny though, is the usability testing that Synaptics have put both gestures through in order to bring the very best to consumers and users alike. The ChiralMotion gesture, in fact, has gone through multiple usability tests that proved Synaptics’ theory that continuous circular movement of the finger on the TouchPad is the most desirable, natural gesture for users to perform.

Would be nice to see notebooks include much larger touchpads in the future though if the ChiralMotion and Two-Finger Flick gestures are to be enjoyed at its optimal level. Let’s face the facts – touchpads these days aren’t up to snuff when it comes to real estate space allocated for it.

Last Lightning before the big boom

|

This update doesn't introduce quite as many new features as the last one did, but there are still plenty of major changes. Interface enhancements include a visual indicator for events that span multiple days, an overhaul of both the "minimonth" calendar in the upper left and the main day/week/multiweek/month calendar views, a progress indicator for when remote calendars are loading, and support for the Today pane in both calendar mode and task mode.

Tantrum Throwing Alarm Clock gives you a reason to get up in the morning

    |

Sometimes it is difficult to get up in the morning, and if it wasn’t for my infant son, who cries in the morning at 7:00 A.M, I probably would never get out of bed. It appears that Hammer Schlemmer has found a way to create the technological equivalent of a screaming baby in the morning in the form of an alarm clock.

The Tantrum Throwing Alarm Clock will do exactly what its name entails. All you need to do is set it, and it will begin to tap its arms lightly when it goes off. Apparently, it will be sedated when you pat it on the head, which is the closest thing to a snooze button.

Nokia N96 returns better than ever

    |

When the Nokia N95 was first unveiled to the world just last year, it took everyone by surprise, most notably due to the number of features and functions crammed into a reasonably sized handset. That smartphone has since received a refresh to feature 8GB of internal flash memory to help it keep up with other portable media players and music phones in terms of memory, but then again any device will still age with time, leading Nokia to work on its successor, the Nokia N96. The time is nigh, and the N96 which was first unveiled in front of the public earlier this year at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona will hit retail stores in the UK within a couple of weeks from now. It is rare for a handset to first hit Europe before it makes its way to North America, but then again for a handset as special as the Nokia N96, I suppose allowances can be made for its launch to be the exception rather than the norm.
